Carvers Creek Solar | 150 MW-AC

Current Status: Construction

The Carvers Creek Solar is a 150 MW-AC, total, solar project under construction in Gloucester County, VA and interconnecting to Dominion’s transmission system through an existing 115 kV transmission line located on-site.

• In 2017, SolUnesco secured the land rights to 402 acres and began county zoning discussions and the PJM interconnection process for a 50 MW project.
• In late 2018, SolUnesco sold the project rights to Apex Clean Energy. Under a Development Services Agreement, SolUnesco and Apex partnered to secure additional land sufficient to increase the project to 150 MWs. Additionally, SolUnesco and Apex secured local zoning confirmation through the Gloucester County’s Permit-by-Right zoning.
• In early 2021, Apex sold Carvers Creek to Liberty Utilities (a wholly owned subsidiary of Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp). Liberty will construct, own and operate Carvers Creek.
