Great Bay Renewables (“Great Bay”) has entered into an interconnection support facility to assist SolUnesco, an experienced Virginia-based solar developer. The facility will fund Southern Company interconnection deposits for four solar development projects totaling approximately 550 MWac. SolUnesco, a leading innovator in renewable energy, has an additional two gigawatt-plus development portfolio, and is confident that the pipeline will grow to three-to-four-gigawatts by year’s end.
Frank Getman, CEO of Great Bay, commented, “Great Bay Renewables is pleased to be able to support an experienced developer like SolUnesco to help advance its development pipeline in the Southeast. Funding interconnection deposits and managing the queue process is perhaps the largest obstacle facing renewables developers today. This transaction adds Southern Company to our growing list of ISOs/RTOs like MISO and PJM where we have provided interconnection deposit financing.”
“We are grateful for Great Bay’s support,” said Francis Hodsoll, SolUnesco’s CEO. “This transaction, which we hope will be the start of a strong, long-term partnership, affords Great Bay the opportunity to appreciate SolUnesco team’s capabilities and can-do attitude, and our ability to advance the development and deployment of cutting-edge renewable energy technologies.”
